The Junior Volunteer Summer Program is closed. Applications for 2027 will be available in early January.

This is not a job shadowing program.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Adult volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and completed high school.
  • Junior/High School volunteers must be between the ages of 15 and 18 and still in high school.
  • Be willing to make a minimum commitment of one 2-4-hour shift per week, on the same day of the week, for a minimum of 4 months.
  • Complete the mandatory Onboarding & Orientation requirements upon acceptance to the Volunteer Program.
  • Accept all Health Screening Immunization and Background requirement terms.

BECOMING A VOLUNTEER:

  1. Complete the Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Volunteer online application.
  2. After you have completed and submitted the online application, if accepted we will contact you to schedule an interview.

APPROVED TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER AND BEGIN THE ONBOARDING/ORIENTATION PROCESS:

  1. Health Information & Immunization Requirements: Prior to volunteering, you will need to complete a Health Screening including immunization requirements, pass a urine drug test, and receive a flu vaccination (flu vaccination is required for all Volunteers, between October 1st to March 31st). You will be responsible for obtaining required immunizations that may be missing. All immunizations must be completed by the time you attend/complete the Volunteer Orientation. The health screening is free of charge.
  2. Background Check: A background check will be completed and approved before you are approved to become a volunteer. The background check is free of charge.

  3. Orientation: After successfully completing all requirements, you will be scheduled to complete a Volunteer Orientation, which includes Policies & Procedures, Code of Conduct, Dress Code, Health & Safety procedures and a Volunteer Pledge.
Location

Please think this over before applying. We are having too many college students dropping out under 10 hours and not letting me know.

Be willing to make a minimum commitment of one 2-4 hour shift per week for a minimum of 3 months to one year, with no more than 8 absences. This is flexible. Also try to have 100 hours or more volunteering.

Application submission is open from January 1st until the program is full.

The Junior Volunteer program is offered July 12th through July 30th 2027 from 9:00am-11:00am. Days of the program 3 weeks T-W-TH program; Graduation on last day of program.

Volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment of one 3-4 hour shift per week on the same day each week for a minimum of 4 months unless otherwise discussed by Volunteer Services.
